Eyesalve: We Need That Anointing

Eyesalve: We Need That Anointing

He said unto them, But whom say ye that I am? Peter answering said, The Christ of God. 21And he straitly charged them, and commanded them to tell no man that thing;” Lk. 9:20-21

Why didn’t Jesus want them to tell men who He was? Because telling people of spiritual things, is ineffective without it being revealed by the Spirit of God. That changed of course after Pentecost. Now that the Spirit has come they could go and tell the whole world who Jesus was and the Spirit was there to reveal the truth that Jesus is the Christ. It is still of the utmost importance today that we have that anointing before we go and tell others who this Jesus is.

Eyesalve: Don’t Follow The Crowd

Eyesalve: Don’t Follow The Crowd

And it came to pass, as he was alone praying, his disciples were with him: and he asked them, saying, Whom say the people that I am?  19They answering said, John the Baptist; but some say, Elias; and others say, that one of the old prophets is risen again.  20 He said unto them, But whom say ye that I am? Peter answering said, The Christ of God.” Lk. 9:18-20

In Hebrew, the word that “people” was translated from means “crowds or throngs.” So Jesus was asking, who do the crowds say I am? They answered John, or Elijah or a prophet of old. I just wanted to remind you church that the crowds always get it wrong.

Eyesalve: You First

Eyesalve: You First

“And Moses said unto Aaron, Go unto the altar, and offer thy sin offering, and thy burnt offering, and make an atonement for thyself, and for the people: and offer the offering of the people, and make an atonement for them; as the LORD command.” Le. 9:7

This is where many Christians run into trouble with other Christians; they focus on the people first. They point their finger at others but have neglected to get their own life right with the Lord first. Moses set the example with Aaron. “Make atonement for thyself,” it is after that that Aaron will make atonement for the people. Once that beam is gone from our own eye then we can help our brothers and sisters deal with their speck.

Eyesalve: How Do You Affect Your Church?

Eyesalve: How Do You Affect Your Church?

“But the children of Israel committed a trespass in the accursed thing: for Achan, the son of Carmi, the son of Zabdi, the son of Zerah, of the tribe of Judah, took of the accursed thing: and the anger of the LORD was kindled against the children of Israel…. Israel hath sinned, and they have also transgressed my covenant which I commanded them: for they have even taken of the accursed thing, and have also stolen, and dissembled also, and they have put it even among their own stuff.” Jos. 7:1,11

Achan committed the trespass but Israel got blamed for it. Brethren, don’t let your church take the blame for your trespasses. Live righteous and holy and let your church take the blame for that. Hallelujah!

Eyesalve: Shepherds That Watch

Eyesalve: Shepherds That Watch

And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night.  9And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid. 10And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.” Lk. 2:8-10

The first people that the birth of Christ was announced to were shepherds, not just any old shepherds, but ones that kept watch over their flocks by night. And so it is today, God will still reveal first to His shepherds the good news He wants to share with the fold. And God will speak even during the darkest of times.

Eyesalve: Deserts Make Ministers

Eyesalve: Deserts Make Ministers

And the child grew, and waxed strong in spirit, and was in the deserts till the day of his shewing unto Israel.” Lk. 1:80

John the Baptist didn’t show himself until he grew strong in the desert. Moses never led Israel until after spending forty years in the desert. Even Jesus did not start His ministry until He spent forty days in the wilderness. Can you see that it takes some desert and wilderness to make a minister out of a Christian?

Eyesalve: God Will Back You Up

Eyesalve: God Will Back You Up

Afterward he appeared unto the eleven as they sat at meat, and upbraided them with their unbelief and hardness of heart, because they believed not them which had seen him after he was risen.” Mk. 16:14

Jesus at different times rebuked His disciples for their lack of faith after He did a miracle. In this passage He is rebuking the eleven for not believing those that testified they saw Him alive. This shows us that you and I can testify of the Lord and that God will stand behind us and rebuke those that do not heed our testimony. How can we speak with such authority? By seeing the risen Christ for ourselves, just as those that proclaimed that He was alive did. They saw Him alive and there was no one that could talk them out of it. They were convinced; therefore we must be convinced of who we preach as well. We may not see Him in bodily form but we must have a revelation that He indeed is the risen Son of God. Hallelujah!

Eyesalve: He Saved Others

Eyesalve: He Saved Others

“Likewise also the chief priests mocking said among themselves with the scribes, He saved others; himself he cannot save.” Mk. 15:31

The chief priests and the scribes did recognize one thing about Jesus, they said it openly right there in front of Jesus. They said it in agreement amongst themselves that this Jesus “saved others.” However, those same ones that recognized that Jesus saves never realized they needed to be saved. Self righteous people could never imagine that they would need to be saved. To them, Jesus is for others. Hallelujah, aren’t you glad you are one of the others?

Eyesalve: Polluted Water Destroys

Eyesalve: Polluted Water Destroys

And if thou wilt make me an altar of stone, thou shalt not build it of hewn stone: for if thou lift up thy tool upon it, thou hast polluted it.” Ex. 20:25

Our generation needs to quit reshaping the church; we need to quit trying to chisel out a new Christianity. With it comes pollution, and polluted water brings death and disease.

Eyesalve: Effects of Obedience

Eyesalve: Effects of Obedience

And Abraham circumcised his son Isaac being eight days old, as God had commanded him.” Ge. 21:4

God wasn’t looking for Isaac to have a missing foreskin; He was looking for Abraham to have an obedient heart. Abraham had an obedient heart and Isaac felt the effect of it. I pray that we all have such obedient hearts that our family and friends will feel the spiritual effect of it.
