“And he, casting away his garment, rose, and came to Jesus. 51And Jesus answered and said unto him, What wilt thou that I should do unto thee? The blind man said unto him, Lord, that I might receive my sight.” Mark 10:50-51
Why did the blind man cast away his garment? I believe it was because it hindered him from getting to Jesus quickly. Is there anything you need to cast away that is keeping you from getting to Jesus?
“And they departed from the presence of the council, rejoicing that they were counted worthy to suffer shame for his name.” Acts 5:41
How do you react when others, especially family and friends shame you over your love for Jesus? If you don’t handle it very well, be assured that you are on your way to one day rejoicing over it.
“But Jesus answered and said, Ye know not what ye ask. Are ye able to drink of the cup that I shall drink of, and to be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with? They say unto him, We are able. 23And he saith unto them, Ye shall drink indeed of my cup, and be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with: but to sit on my right hand, and on my left, is not mine to give, but it shall be given to them for whom it is prepared of my Father.” Matthew 20:22-23
Did you notice Jesus did not rebuke the two disciples when they said they were able to drink from His cup and be baptized with His baptism. Jesus did not consider them to be proud. He won’t rebuke you either or consider you proud if you believe you are able to drink of Jesus cup and be baptized with His baptism.
“And Abram went up out of Egypt, he, and his wife, and all that he had, and Lot with him, into the south. 2And Abram was very rich in cattle, in silver, and in gold. 3And he went on his journeys from the south even to Bethel, unto the place where his tent had been at the beginning, between Bethel and Hai; 4Unto the place of the altar, which he had made there at the first: and there Abram called on the name of the LORD.” Genesis 13:1-4
If you have wandered off into Egypt you need to get back to where you started (the cross is our altar). Then you must call on the Lord God with all your heart, soul, mind and strength.
“Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of his saints.” Psalm 116:15
It is precious to the Lord when any of His saints pass on to go and be with Him. It is also precious to the Lord when those of us who are still living die to our old nature. You may have wondered why you seem to get more than your share of trials and temptations. Well it is because it is precious to the Lord to watch you die.
