Eyesalve: The Gospel Still Works

“So, as much as in me is, I am ready to preach the gospel to you that are at Rome also. 16For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.” Ro. 1:15-16

Paul was ready to preach to those in Rome. Did he just complete a course on the customs and culture of Roman citizens; did he practice doing music the way they liked it; did he study the psychology and philosophies of Roman thinking? No, his confidence was in the gospel of Jesus Christ. This gospel can crash through every barrier; it can humble every higher learning; it can work in every culture, though it will remove that which offends God. This gospel can deliver from any bondage; it can convict any heart and totally transform any human being. Why has this generation become ashamed of the gospel of Jesus Christ? We don’t need motivational speeches, we don’t need smoke machines and strobe lights; we don’t need a group for every age, interest or life situation. The gospel will still work if there would be someone that would believe it and preach it.
