Eyesalve: Handling the Truth

By | Eyesalve

But have renounced the hidden things of dishonesty, not walking in craftiness, nor handling the word of God deceitfully; but by manifestation of the truth commending ourselves to every man’s conscience in the sight of God. 3But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost:” II Corinthians 4:2-3

There has been many clever approaches to try to bring people into the kingdom of God. It is often done with the best intentions. Tactics are used because there is a sense that men need an aid to help them understand the word so they can believe. In our text we learn that we are not to handle the word deceitfully. We are not to beat around the bush; we are not to pull the old bait and switch. We must be convinced that the truth is sufficient and effective for bringing people to the Lord, even if it seems difficult to comprehend. Paul concludes this by saying (I will paraphrase), “If the people don’t understand, it isn’t because they can’t understand the truth, it is because they want to remain lost.” Saints, don’t handle the truth deceitfully.

Eyesalve: Departure

By | Eyesalve

Then all those virgins arose, and trimmed their lamps. 8And the foolish said unto the wise, Give us of your oil; for our lamps are gone out. 9But the wise answered, saying, Not so; lest there be not enough for us and you: but go ye rather to them that sell, and buy for yourselves. 10And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came; and they that were ready went in with him to the marriage: and the door was shut.” Matthew 25:7-10

While seeking the Lord this morning I was letting Him know I was discouraged over the state of the church. I had over the last two days read some statistics that are alarming on what Christians believe today. There is a great departure from truth and an accepting of many things that are evil. Now I have been believing for over a decade that there will be a distinction coming to the church. There will be a separation between the holy and unholy, the just and the unjust, but I always felt that it was going to be the true separating from the false. I determined that the true church would rise up in authority and power and make that clear distinction. However, a different thought came to me while talking with the Lord this morning. He reminded me that it was the foolish virgins who left. As the wise virgins set their heart and mind to go meet the bridegroom, the foolish virgins had to run off and buy, they had to go back and do some trading. As I continued to meditate on what the Lord was speaking to me He spoke to me again. He was not saying that the church would not flow with His Holy Spirit power, but He did point out that once you believe the truth there is nothing higher to believe. For those who resist the truth, there are thousands of different ways they can go. SO CHURCH, STAY ON THE NARROW WAY. FIX YOUR EYES ON THE BRIDEGROOM. LOOK UP FOR YOUR REDEMTION DRAWETH NIGH.

Eyesalve: It Is Expected

By | Eyesalve

And the king said to him, How many times shall I adjure thee that thou say nothing but the truth to me in the name of the LORD?” II Chronicles 18:15

Even the wicked expect the righteous to tell the truth.

Eyesalve: Shock Value

By | Eyesalve

These are the things that ye shall do; Speak ye every man the truth to his neighbour; execute the judgment of truth and peace in your gates:” Zec. 8:16

The farther a society gets lost in lies and deception, the greater the shock value the truth will be. Truth will be an execution of judgment.

Eyesalve: Truth Has Perished

By | Eyesalve

But thou shalt say unto them, This is a nation that obeyeth not the voice of the LORD their God, nor receiveth correction: truth is perished, and is cut off from their mouth.” Jer. 7:28

Herein lies the reason that our politicians and most Americans can no longer tell the truth. “This is a nation that obeyeth not the voice of the LORD.” Truth has perished in America because this nation refuses to honor God.

Eyesalve: Are You Patient Toward Your Brethren

By | Eyesalve

Then said he unto the dresser of his vineyard, Behold, these three years I come seeking fruit on this fig tree, and find none: cut it down; why cumbereth it the ground? 8And he answering said unto him, Lord, let it alone this year also, till I shall dig about it, and dung it:” Lk. 13:7-8

For three years the keeper of the vineyard was watching for that fig tree to bear fruit. He was asking the lord of the vineyard to give him another year to work it to see if it would bear fruit. The hard-nosed religious keeper would have never given the tree three years. The carnal keeper would have cared less if there was any fruit. The doubtful keeper would not have expected any fruit and the greedy keeper would only want fruit to fill his own needs and desires. The keeper that is full of grace and truth is patient, he is willing to give more time, yet he does expect to soon receive a harvest of fruit. Are you full of grace and truth when you deal with your brethren?

Eyesalve: The Word Teaches, The Spirit Reveals

By | Eyesalve

This is he that came by water and blood, even Jesus Christ; not by water only, but by water and blood. And it is the Spirit that beareth witness, because the Spirit is truth.” I Jn. 5:6

The word of God teaches us the truth, the Spirit of God reveals the truth.

Eyesalve: May Their Knees Knock

By | Eyesalve

In the same hour came forth fingers of a man’s hand, and wrote over against the candlestick upon the plaister of the wall of the king’s palace: and the king saw the part of the hand that wrote. 6Then the king’s countenance was changed, and his thoughts troubled him, so that the joints of his loins were loosed, and his knees smote one against another.” Dan. 5:5-6

It seems few in our society fear anymore what God has written. Sad to say that even some of the church don’t fear what God has written. Lord, reveal the truth of your written word to men that they will tremble and their knees will knock.

Eyesalve Don’t Feel Hurt, Get A Burden

By | Eyesalve

And the LORD said unto Samuel, Hearken unto the voice of the people in all that they say unto thee: for they have not rejected thee, but they have rejected me, that I should not reign over them.” I Sam. 8:7

Whenever you stand unwavering for the truth you will face rejection. The rejection that will be the hardest to deal with is when that rejection comes from those who consider themselves Christians. It is hard for any Christian to have to face this kind of rejection. It often leads to hurt feelings that can fester into bitterness. However, if you always remember that when other believers reject you for holding to the truth, they are not rejecting you, but God. I pray that we don’t consider our own hurt feelings, but instead get a burden for our brethren and go before the Lord in prayer for them.

Eyesalve: Exempt and Liberated

By | Eyesalve

“And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” Jn. 8:32

The phrase, “shall make you free,” comes from two Greek words, eleutheroō and humas. Eleutheroō means to liberate and exempt. So the truth does these two things, it exempts from the penalty of sin and then it liberates from a continued life of sin. The word humas means you. Yes, the truth exempts and liberates YOU. Hallelujah, me too!
