“Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God is one LORD: 5And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might.” Dt. 6:4-5
A Christian said to a pastor friend of mine that there is too much preaching about love today. In response, my friend said, “You can never preach too much about love.” I have to agree with him, for God is love. The problem isn’t too many sermons about love; it is sermons preached without love. Another problem is sermons that only preach about the love God has for us and not challenging the church to love God with all their heart, soul and might. The whole message of love must be preached, and it will be, if love for God dominates the preacher.
