EYE SALVE

“…Anoint your eyes with eye salve, that you may see.” Revelation 3:18

A Daily Devotional by Pastor Terry Fischer

Eye Salve is a short devotional that Pastor Terry Fischer writes regularly to challenge and encourage the saints of God.

It is meant to be short and sweet and comes from his daily reading and prayer.

Forbid Them

By | Eyesalve

Now when the adversaries of Judah and Benjamin heard that the children of the captivity builded the temple unto the LORD God of Israel; 2Then they came to Zerubbabel, and to the chief of the fathers, and said unto them, Let us build with you: for we seek your God, as ye do; and we do sacrifice unto him since the days of Esarhaddon king of Assur, which brought us up hither. 3But Zerubbabel, and Jeshua, and the rest of the chief of the fathers of Israel, said unto them, Ye have nothing to do with us to build an house unto our God; but we ourselves together will build unto the LORD God of Israel, as king Cyrus the king of Persia hath commanded us.” Ezra 4:1-3

For too long, the church has allowed the world to build with her. We have adopted their programs and techniques, and have adopted their psychology. It’s time to repent of this and forbid them to build with us any longer. We must let Jesus to continue to build His church.

A Remedy

By | Eyesalve

And the LORD God of their fathers sent to them by his messengers, rising up betimes, and sending; because he had compassion on his people, and on his dwelling place: 16But they mocked the messengers of God, and despised his words, and misused his prophets, until the wrath of the LORD arose against his people, till there was no remedy.” II Chronicles 36:15-16

Thank the Lord He has provided a remedy for us. It is the blood of Jesus Christ. Though there is a remedy, it still has to be activated. A humble heart is what activates the remedy.

Stop the Flow

By | Eyesalve

So there was gathered much people together, who stopped all the fountains, and the brook that ran through the midst of the land, saying, Why should the kings of Assyria come, and find much water?” II Chronicles 32:4

Hezekiah came up with this little scheme so the enemy would not have fresh water to drink. The devil tries to do the same thing in the church. He tries to stop the flow of living water so when people come they will not find much living water there. Saints of God, we must allow that living water to flow from us and saturate our churches.

Doomed to Failure

By | Eyesalve

And he said, I will go out, and be a lying spirit in the mouth of all his prophets. And the LORD said, Thou shalt entice him, and thou shalt also prevail: go out, and do even so.” II Chronicles 18:21

A man is doomed to failure if he surrounds himself with his own prophets.

Eradicate Death

By | Eyesalve

And one went out into the field to gather herbs, and found a wild vine, and gathered thereof wild gourds his lap full, and came and shred them into the pot of pottage: for they knew them not. 40So they poured out for the men to eat. And it came to pass, as they were eating of the pottage, that they cried out, and said, O thou man of God, there is death in the pot. And they could not eat thereof. 41But he said, Then bring meal. And he cast it into the pot; and he said, Pour out for the people, that they may eat. And there was no harm in the pot.” II Kings 4:39-41

Sometimes, death can get into a church. It can get such a foothold that it seems as if it will take a miracle to get it out. Thank God for Prophets, who rise up in our day and declare, “Death has found a place in our church.” Thank God for Prophets and men of God who know God and can immediately eradicate death through the anointing of God.

Bless Your House

By | Eyesalve

And all the people departed every man to his house: and David returned to bless his house.” I Chronicles 16:43

David had the ark brought into Jerusalem the proper way and there was much celebration. There was much praise offered up to God. Then he went home and blessed his family. I wonder how many, when they go home from church, bless their family. I fear that to many go home and complain about the service. Why is that? One reason is because there may be an absence of the presence of God. When the presence of God is in our meetings, our praise will be genuine and our hearts will be made glad. Then we can’t help, but to go home and bless all those around us.

Because of His People

By | Eyesalve

And David perceived that the LORD had confirmed him king over Israel, for his kingdom was lifted up on high, because of his people Israel.” I Chronicles 14:2

If you ever rise to some prominence or influence amongst the church, don’t let it go to your head. Understand that the reason the Lord raised you up is for the sake of “His people.”

Influence

By | Eyesalve

Now the sons of Issachar were, Tola, and Puah, Jashub, and Shimron, four. 2And the sons of Tola; Uzzi, and Rephaiah, and Jeriel, and Jahmai, and Jibsam, and Shemuel, heads of their father’s house, to wit, of Tola: they were valiant men of might in their generations; whose number was in the days of David two and twenty thousand and six hundred.” I Chronicles 7:1-2

Tola was a judge in Israel, back in the days before Israel had a king. The generations of his family went on to be valiant men. You too can be a powerful influence on the generation to follow. How will you influence the generation to follow you? Will you show them how to be valiant for the kingdom of God?
