“Then took Mary a pound of ointment of spikenard, very costly, and anointed the feet of Jesus, and wiped his feet with her hair: and the house was filled with the odour of the ointment.” John 12:3
Our worship services will be filled with an aroma of Christ if we can give our all and humble ourselves at the feet of Jesus.
“For as I was passing through and considering the objects of your worship, I even found an altar with this inscription: TO THE UNKNOWN GOD. Therefore, the One whom you worship without knowing, Him I proclaim to you:â€(NKJV) Acts 17:23
It’s not too much different today. People are trying to worship a God they do not know.
“And it came to pass, when Moses went out unto the tabernacle, that all the people rose up, and stood every man at his tent door, and looked after Moses, until he was gone into the tabernacle. 9And it came to pass, as Moses entered into the tabernacle, the cloudy pillar descended, and stood at the door of the tabernacle, and the LORD talked with Moses. 10And all the people saw the cloudy pillar stand at the tabernacle door: and all the people rose up and worshipped, every man in his tent door. Ex. 33:8-10
It is a good thing that you can worship the Lord right in your own home, but don’t watch the saints gather at the tabernacle of the Lord from your recliner.
“And it came to pass, when they were come, that he looked on Eliab, and said, Surely the LORD’S anointed is before him. 7But the LORD said unto Samuel, Look not on his countenance, or on the height of his stature; because I have refused him: for the LORD seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the LORD looketh on the heart.†I Sam. 16:6-7
Some Christians have eluded to this scripture when they are trying to hide or justify their less than Christian behavior. They say in response to those that challenge them, “you are looking at the outward, but God knows my heart.†I don’t know if Christians really grasp the truth of what they are saying. That should cause every Christian to tremble to know that God does know their heart. Man can be fooled, but God isn’t. He also knows the heart of every Christian when they are raising their hands in worship at church.
