Eyesalve: While Thus Occupied

By | Eyesalve

And I punished them oft in every synagogue, and compelled them to blaspheme; and being exceedingly mad against them, I persecuted them even unto strange cities. 12Whereupon as I went to Damascus with authority and commission from the chief priests, 13At midday, O king, I saw in the way a light from heaven, above the brightness of the sun, shining round about me and them which journeyed with me.” Acts 26:11-13

In the New King James version, verse 12 starts by saying, “While thus occupied.” I like that for you can see when you read that Paul was totally occupied with hunting the Christians down. He even thought He was doing it for God. However, a light from heaven stopped him in his tracks. I pray for every one of you that read this and have found yourself occupied with something other than God that a light would shine on you and bring you back to where you need to be.

Eyesalve: The Presence of the Lord (#3)

By | Eyesalve

“Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.” Ps. 16:11

When we assemble together, we need the Lord to be present in such a way that we can feel the life and love of His presence. If the Lord is present in such a way these three things will be evident in God’s people.

1. Spirit of joy that wells up in the believers. For the kingdom of God is righteousness, peace and JOY in the Holy Ghost.

2. There will be a renewed desire to seek God more and know Him more. The more you taste Him the more you want of Him.

3. There will be a renewed desire to live for God. The other things of this world will lose their luster and “grow strangely dim, in the light of His glory and grace.”

Eyesalve: Will They Find Him?

By | Eyesalve

“Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.” Ps. 16:11

Every once in a while a desperate person will enter a church in one last ditch attempt to find God. They may not even know what they are really looking for. But if deep in their heart they are looking for God, may he be found in our churches. The biggest let down on this planet is for a desperate person go to church looking for God and not find Him. If God’s presence is there, there will be fullness of joy.

Eyesalve: The Greatest Pleasure

By | Eyesalve

“Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.” Ps. 16:11

The greatest purpose of man is to give glory to God. The greatest pleasure of man is to be in the presence of the Lord.

Eyesalve: Astonished by Doctrine

By | Eyesalve

“And now, behold, the hand of the Lord is upon thee, and thou shalt be blind, not seeing the sun for a season. And immediately there fell on him a mist and a darkness; and he went about seeking some to lead him by the hand. 12Then the deputy, when he saw what was done, believed, being astonished at the doctrine of the Lord.” Acts 13:11-12

It is one thing to teach or make known to others, the doctrine of the Lord, it is another thing to astonish them with doctrine.

Eyesalve: So Can You

By | Eyesalve

“Then the children of Judah came unto Joshua in Gilgal: and Caleb the son of Jephunneh the Kenezite said unto him, Thou knowest the thing that the LORD said unto Moses the man of God concerning me and thee in Kadeshbarnea. 7Forty years old was I when Moses the servant of the LORD sent me from Kadeshbarnea to espy out the land; and I brought him word again as it was in mine heart. 8Nevertheless my brethren that went up with me made the heart of the people melt: but I wholly followed the LORD my God.” Josh. 14:6-8

Society around us is falling apart. Yet consider this. When the hearts of many people melted in the presence of Caleb, he “wholly followed the Lord.” SO CAN YOU.

Eyesalve: Share in Righteousness

By | Eyesalve

“But the children of Israel committed a trespass in the accursed thing: for Achan, the son of Carmi, the son of Zabdi, the son of Zerah, of the tribe of Judah, took of the accursed thing: and the anger of the LORD was kindled against the children of Israel.” Josh. 7:1

Achan committed the trespass, but the children of Israel took the blame for it. That doesn’t seem right, but this can help us see how important it is to belong to a good fellowship. One that has a great love for God and one another. One that cares about the spiritual condition of one another. One that prays for each other that we all keep our lives pure and spotless before the Lord. If a fellowship can share in the blame of a trespass others commit, then they also can share in the righteousness others live. Let us encourage each other on to righteous and godly living.

Eyesalve: Shout, Not Complain

By | Eyesalve

“And it shall come to pass, that when they make a long blast with the ram’s horn, and when ye hear the sound of the trumpet, all the people shall shout with a great shout; and the wall of the city shall fall down flat, and the people shall ascend up every man straight before him.” Josh. 6:5

We believers can face many Jericho’s in our life, but it doesn’t matter because God will be there for us. Just remember this, the walls of Jericho went down because the people shouted, not complained. Your walls too, will come down with a shout of praise and honor unto the Lord.
