Eyesalve: Be A Gift

By | Eyesalve

“For I am in a strait betwixt two, having a desire to depart, and to be with Christ; which is far better: 24Nevertheless to abide in the flesh is more needful for you.” Ph’p 1:23-24

There are, no doubt, proud Christians that think they are God’s gift to the church. Yet, each one of us is supposed to be a gift to the church. We all need to be like Paul and be able to say it is better for you that I am here with you. It sounds so proud to say that, but it doesn’t have to be. With all humility, be a gift to your brethren.

Eyesalve: Be What God Has Willed

By | Eyesalve

“Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, to the saints which are at Ephesus, and to the faithful in Christ Jesus:” Eph. 1:1

Paul confidently states that he is an apostle by the will of God. We can all want to be a lot of things, but there is no better thing to be than what God has willed you to be. All else is vanity.

Eyesalve: Not The Peoples Anointed

By | Eyesalve

“And Absalom, whom we anointed over us, is dead in battle. Now therefore why speak ye not a word of bringing the king back?” II Sam. 19:10

We need God’s anointed, not the people’s anointed. The peoples anointed just ends in death.

Eyesalve: Baptism of Fire

By | Eyesalve

“Then Joab arose, and came to Absalom unto his house, and said unto him, Wherefore have thy servants set my field on fire?” II Sam. 14:31

Absalom used fire to get Joab’s attention, this is why God wants us to be baptized in the Holy Ghost and FIRE. Fire gets people’s attention

Eyesalve: The Best Deal

By | Eyesalve

“For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.” II Cor. 5:21

Many years ago while working on one of my customers house, a man came walking up the alley and came to me holding a $50.00 bill. He said it would be worth it to him to give me that money if I would go down to his house and put a couple nails in his loose aluminum fascia. So I grabbed my ladder and walked down a few houses and climbed up and nailed his trim in place. The whole ordeal probably took about five minutes. When he saw how fast I did it I could tell he had a change of mind and wished he wouldn’t have offered me so much money. So when he hinted to me about taking less I did. Well I said that to say that we have one who has given us a much better deal. Our God has offered us a deal in which He will take our sins and give us in return, His righteousness. This is the best deal in all the universe. On top of that, he has not changed His mind for 2000 years. Hallelujah!

Eyesalve: Communism Versus Christianity

By | Eyesalve

“And all that believed were together, and had all things common; 45And sold their possessions and goods, and parted them to all men, as every man had need.” Acts 2:44-45

Brad Hayes, missionary to Romania, gave this great insight when he shared at our church. I can’t quote him exactly, but it was along this thought in regard to the early church having all things common. Brad said, this is not communism. Communism is when men say you give me what you have. Christianity is when men give to others what they have.

Eyesalve: Edify The Church #2

By | Eyesalve

“Even so ye, forasmuch as ye are zealous of spiritual gifts, seek that ye may excel to the edifying of the church.” I Cor. 14:12

There are some Christians who think that you are not a legitimate church unless you meet in a church building and then there are some that think the real church meets in a home. Those who think this way don’t really understand what the church is. Church isn’t a location where you meet, church has to do more with why and how God’s people meet.

Eyesalve: Edify The Church

By | Eyesalve

“Even so ye, forasmuch as ye are zealous of spiritual gifts, seek that ye may excel to the edifying of the church.” I Cor. 14:12

Some Christians may say, “I don’t need the church to be a Christian.” I wonder if those that say such a thing ever think the church may need them. Of course, not in the proud condition they are in, but functioning in the body as God has created them to.

Eyesalve: Fill Your Horn

By | Eyesalve

“And the LORD said unto Samuel, How long wilt thou mourn for Saul, seeing I have rejected him from reigning over Israel? fill thine horn with oil, and go, I will send thee to Jesse the Bethlehemite: for I have provided me a king among his sons.” I Sam. 16:1

Before Samuel could go and anoint another king, he had to fill his horn with oil. Before you can go and minister with God’s anointing, you need to be filled with the oil of God which is the Holy Spirit.

Eyesalve: Don’t Need Another Book

By | Eyesalve

“Then Samuel told the people the manner of the kingdom, and wrote it in a book, and laid it up before the LORD. And Samuel sent all the people away, every man to his house.” I Sam 10:25

Samuel wrote a book that taught people how to respect royalty. This book is not in your bible. Israel would have never needed this book if they would not have insisted on a king. Before Samuel wrote this book, the books of Moses is what Israel had for their rule of living. The church kind of does something similar today. What happens when a denomination starts up? They right their own book of bi-laws. Just as the five books of Moses were sufficient for Israel until they demanded a king, so too should our bible be sufficient for our day.
