EYE SALVE

“…Anoint your eyes with eye salve, that you may see.” Revelation 3:18

A Daily Devotional by Pastor Terry Fischer

Eye Salve is a short devotional that Pastor Terry Fischer writes regularly to challenge and encourage the saints of God.

It is meant to be short and sweet and comes from his daily reading and prayer.

Then He Gave

By | Eyesalve

And I, behold, I have given with him Aholiab, the son of Ahisamach, of the tribe of Dan: and in the hearts of all that are wise hearted I have put wisdom, that they may make all that I have commanded thee; Exodus 31:6

The instructions were already given by God on how to make the ark, the tabernacle, the priestly garments and the artifacts for worship. Then God gave the ability to man to carry out the work to the finest detail. So too with the New Testament church, God spoke His will, go and make disciples, and then He gave the baptism of His Spirit to carry out His work.

Body of Christ

By | Eyesalve

Now ye are the body of Christ, and members in particular.” I Corinthians 12:27

The body of Christ is physical bodies living spiritual lives.

Hindered?

By | Eyesalve

And he, casting away his garment, rose, and came to Jesus. 51And Jesus answered and said unto him, What wilt thou that I should do unto thee? The blind man said unto him, Lord, that I might receive my sight.” Mark 10:50-51

Why did the blind man cast away his garment? I believe it was because it hindered him from getting to Jesus quickly. Is there anything you need to cast away that is keeping you from getting to Jesus?

Appointments and Orders

By | Eyesalve

While Peter thought on the vision, the Spirit said unto him, Behold, three men seek thee. 20Arise therefore, and get thee down, and go with them, doubting nothing: for I have sent them. 21Then Peter went down to the men which were sent unto him from Cornelius; and said, Behold, I am he whom ye seek: what is the cause wherefore ye are come? 22And they said, Cornelius the centurion, a just man, and one that feareth God, and of good report among all the nation of the Jews, was warned from God by an holy angel to send for thee into his house, and to hear words of thee. 23Then called he them in, and lodged them. And on the morrow Peter went away with them, and certain brethren from Joppa accompanied him.” Acts 10:19-23

What we see in these verses is the Spirit of God at work. In a vision, an angel told Cornelius to go get Peter and The Spirit told Peter to go to Cornelius. What cooperation we see here. While one is called to go get, the other is called to go to. Saints of God, we need the Holy Spirit to move amongst us and make such divine appointments and give such clear orders.

Rejoicing Over It

By | Eyesalve

And they departed from the presence of the council, rejoicing that they were counted worthy to suffer shame for his name.” Acts 5:41

How do you react when others, especially family and friends shame you over your love for Jesus? If you don’t handle it very well, be assured that you are on your way to one day rejoicing over it.

After They Eat

By | Eyesalve

And when the children of Israel saw it, they said one to another, It is manna (What is it?) for they wist not what it was. And Moses said unto them, This is the bread which the LORD hath given you to eat.” Exodus 16:15

Most other Bible versions ask, “What is it?” where the KJV says, “It is manna.” The word manna means whatness. After they ate the manna, they knew it was bread for them. They no longer had to ask, “What is it?” Though most people know Jesus by name, it isn’t until they are ready to eat of His body that they will no longer have to ask, “Who is He?”

Turn it Down

By | Eyesalve

And Moses spake unto Aaron, Say unto all the congregation of the children of Israel, Come near before the LORD: for he hath heard your murmurings.” Exodus 16:9

I don’t know about you, but I think I would turn down that offer to go near to the Lord because He heard my murmurings.

Faith Drives You On

By | Eyesalve

“And when they could not come nigh unto him for the press, they uncovered the roof where he was: and when they had broken it up, they let down the bed wherein the sick of the palsy lay. 5When Jesus saw their faith, he said unto the sick of the palsy, Son, thy sins be forgiven thee.” Mark 2:4-5

One of the ear marks of faith is that it drives you on. If these men doubted they would not have gone through all the effort they did to get to Jesus. God allows obstacles in our life to test our faith, to see if we will continue to pursue Him or if we will find it to be too much trouble to uncover the roof to get to Jesus.
