EYE SALVE

“…Anoint your eyes with eye salve, that you may see.” Revelation 3:18

A Daily Devotional by Pastor Terry Fischer

Eye Salve is a short devotional that Pastor Terry Fischer writes regularly to challenge and encourage the saints of God.

It is meant to be short and sweet and comes from his daily reading and prayer.

Our Generation

By | Eyesalve

These are the generations of Noah: Noah was a just man and perfect in his generations, and Noah walked with God.” Genesis 6:9

Noah was just which also means righteous, and he was perfect in his generations. Saints, it is our turn to be righteous and perfect in this, our generation.

This May Be The Year

By | Eyesalve

Watch ye therefore: for ye know not when the master of the house cometh, at even, or at midnight, or at the cockcrowing, or in the morning:” Mark 13:35

Happy New Year to you all. Well, another went by and the Lord did not come. One thing that can happen, especially as you get older is that you have seen many new year’s come and go. Then the word “watch” (present tense) loses its urgency. It could happen that in your heart you start saying, “I have been watching, but He still hasn’t come. I am no longer going to concern myself with His return.” So I want to say to you all, “WATCH, FOR YOU DO NOT KNOW WHEN YOUR MASTER COMES. THIS MAY BE THE YEAR.”

Eyesalve: Life of Faith

By | Eyesalve

Behold, his soul which is lifted up is not upright in him: but the just shall live by his faith.” Habakkuk 2:4

The word “faith,” is found only two times in the Old Testament. However, the principle of faith is lived out by many of the Old Testament saints. Abraham, for example is called the father of faith. What a contrast we have from the New Testament saints of today who hear all the time about faith. We even have one faction of Christianity called, “word of faith.” In the Old Testament days, the people didn’t hear about faith as much, but they lived it. We have the privilege of reading about the obedience of those Old Testament saints who lived a life of faith. Let it be so for our present day, let faith be seen more than or as at least as much as it is preached. So let’s take “word of faith,” and change it to a life of faith.

Eyesalve: The Ultimate Mercy

By | Eyesalve

Who is a God like unto thee, that pardoneth iniquity, and passeth by the transgression of the remnant of his heritage? he retaineth not his anger for ever, because he delighteth in mercy.” Micah 7:18

Shame on any believer who does not show mercy toward others. God delights in mercy, so must every believer. However, there is one huge difference between man’s mercy and God’s. Only God has the authority to pardon iniquity. You and I can show the utmost mercy toward anyone who has offended us. We can even forgive them for any terrible things they have done to us and not require for them to make it up to us. But we can never forgive anyone to the extent that we can pardon them for their offenses against God. The whole point I am making is never be satisfied with the mercy you show towards others as if that somehow makes them right before God. It indeed makes you right, but continue to pray and point those people toward the One who can forgive them of all their transgressions and receive from Him the ultimate mercy, mercy from God. Hallelujah

Eyesalve: In The Spirit

By | Eyesalve

I was in the Spirit on the Lord’s day, and heard behind me a great voice, as of a trumpet.” Revelation 1:10

Imagine how our church services would be if all the Christians were “in the Spirit” on the Lord’s Day. Imagine how the messages would be in church if all our ministers were “in the Spirit” on the Lord’s Day.

Eyesalve: If You Yield

By | Eyesalve

Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy,” Jude 1:24

At first glance you may not see how similar this verse in Jude is to Romans 14:17 which says, “For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost.” However, these two verses are closely connected. For the Lord “to keep you from falling” means that His righteousness is constantly constraining you. The only way “to present you faultless” is to have the peace of God, otherwise you would fear His presence. And last, you can live a life of “exceeding joy.” All of this is yours if your life is yielded to the Holy Ghost.

Eyesalve: Be a Fellow Helper

By | Eyesalve

We therefore ought to receive such, that we might be fellowhelpers to the truth.” III John 1:8

One of the main reasons for division in the church today is that you have those who promote truth and those who do not. It isn’t that those who don’t promote truth are actually aware of it, for often they don’t realize what they are doing. Anytime there is even a slight rejection of the whole truth of God, then division is happening between them and those who are totally surrendered to truth. Will you be a fellow helper of the truth?

Eyesalve: As Christ Has loved

By | Eyesalve

As the Father hath loved me, so have I loved you: continue ye in my love12This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you.” John 15:9,12

There is no greater love in all the universe than the love the Father has for His Son. No doubt, the love Jesus has for the Father is just as infinite. It is a love beyond our natural ability to achieve. However, it is possible for you and me to love others with the same grand love the Father and the Son have. In fact Jesus made it a commandment. Therefore let us love one another as Christ has loved us.
