EYE SALVE

“…Anoint your eyes with eye salve, that you may see.” Revelation 3:18

A Daily Devotional by Pastor Terry Fischer

Eye Salve is a short devotional that Pastor Terry Fischer writes regularly to challenge and encourage the saints of God.

It is meant to be short and sweet and comes from his daily reading and prayer.

Eyesalve: God is Really Among You

By | Eyesalve

But if all prophesy, and there come in one that believeth not, or one unlearned, he is convinced of all, he is judged of all: 25And thus are the secrets of his heart made manifest; and so falling down on his face he will worship God, and report that God is in you of a truth.” I Corinthians 14: 24-25

The last words of verse 25 say, “and report that God is in you of a truth” Another version says it this way; “proclaiming, God is really among you.” So with that I ask, has a stranger ever come into your fellowship and proclaimed that God is really among you?

Eyesalve: Desire Gifts

By | Eyesalve

Follow after charity, and desire spiritual gifts, but rather that ye may prophesy.” I Corinthians 14:1

If you pursue love, then it is only natural that you will desire spiritual gifts so you can bless your brethren.

Eyesalve: Follow Me

By | Eyesalve

Be ye followers of me, even as I also am of Christ.” I Corinthians 11:1

At first it may sound arrogant for any of you to say to anyone, “Follow me as I follow Christ.” But when it comes down to it, every one of you who has walked with the Lord for several years should be able to say that. If not, you need to ask yourself why.

Eyesalve: In Your City

By | Eyesalve

“And he said unto him, Behold now, there is in this city a man of God, and he is an honourable man; all that he saith cometh surely to pass: now let us go thither; peradventure he can shew us our way that we should go.” I Samuel 9:6

You can make it possible that it could be said about the city you live in that there is in your city a man or woman of God who is honorable.

Eyesalve: Are You One of Them?

By | Eyesalve

And the child Samuel ministered unto the LORD before Eli. And the word of the LORD was precious in those days; there was no open vision. 2And it came to pass at that time, when Eli was laid down in his place, and his eyes began to wax dim, that he could not see; 3And ere the lamp of God went out in the temple of the LORD, where the ark of God was, and Samuel was laid down to sleep; 4That the LORD called Samuel: and he answered, Here am I.” I Samuel 3:1-4

Even when it seems there is no desire for God anywhere; even if it seems all of society has turned from God; even when it seems that the lamp of God has grown dim and gone out in much of the church today; God will still call the names of those who will listen and obey His voice. God still has a people for Himself. Are you one of them?

Eyesalve: Glean Amongst the Abundance

By | Eyesalve

And when she was risen up to glean, Boaz commanded his young men, saying, Let her glean even among the sheaves, and reproach her not: 16And let fall also some of the handfuls of purpose for her, and leave them, that she may glean them, and rebuke her not. 17So she gleaned in the field until even, and beat out that she had gleaned: and it was about an ephah of barley.” Ruth 2:15-17

The God loving Christian will thank God and rejoice for the blessing of being able to glean amongst the abundance. The lazy self-serving Christian will say, “You mean I have to do my own gleaning?

Eyesalve: New Family

By | Eyesalve

And Boaz answered and said unto her, It hath fully been shewed me, all that thou hast done unto thy mother in law since the death of thine husband: and how thou hast left thy father and thy mother, and the land of thy nativity, and art come unto a people which thou knewest not heretofore.” Ruth 2:11

Every true believer, whether it happened to them physically or not, had to determine in their heart to leave their father and mother and their land, and become a part of a family that they did not know. This new family is the body of Christ, the church of the living God.

Eyesalve: One Time Foreigners

By | Eyesalve

And Ruth said, Intreat me not to leave thee, or to return from following after thee: for whither thou goest, I will go; and where thou lodgest, I will lodge: thy people shall be my people, and thy God my God:” Ruth 1:16

Ruth was a foreigner to Judah and their one true God. Yet she insisted that their God would be her God. God received Ruth. She was King David’s Great Grandmother and she was a part of the lineage of Jesus. Hallelujah! Rejoice saints, though we were at one time foreigners, God let us have Him for our God.
