EYE SALVE

“…Anoint your eyes with eye salve, that you may see.” Revelation 3:18

A Daily Devotional by Pastor Terry Fischer

Eye Salve is a short devotional that Pastor Terry Fischer writes regularly to challenge and encourage the saints of God.

It is meant to be short and sweet and comes from his daily reading and prayer.

Eyesalve: A Saint

By | Eyesalve

To all that be in Rome, beloved of God, called to be saints: Grace to you and peace from God our Father, and the Lord Jesus Christ.” Romans 1:7

Some of you may be content to be just a sinner saved by grace, but I trust you desire to rise above that and be what you are called to be, a SAINT.

Eyesalve: Separated To

By | Eyesalve

Paul, a servant of Jesus Christ, called to be an apostle, separated unto the gospel of God,” Romans 1:1

When we think of separation, the first thing that comes to our mind is to leave someone or something. No doubt, this is what it means to separate. However, as Christians we aren’t just to separate ourselves from sin, the world and the devil, but we are to belong to someone or something else. It is Jesus and His kingdom we must belong to. We can’t just detach, but we must attach. We must not just be separated from, but separated to.

Eyesalve: Don’t Know

By | Eyesalve

“For as I was passing through and considering the objects of your worship, I even found an altar with this inscription: TO THE UNKNOWN GOD. Therefore, the One whom you worship without knowing, Him I proclaim to you:”(NKJV) Acts 17:23

It’s not too much different today. People are trying to worship a God they do not know.

Eyesalve: Daily

By | Eyesalve

“These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so. Acts 17:11

They didn’t just search the word, they searched it daily. Do you?

Eyesalve: Add To The Kingdom

By | Eyesalve

And so were the churches established in the faith, and increased in number daily.” Acts 16:5

The church who is established in the Lord will be the church who is winning souls. Healthy sheep beget healthy sheep. The creative entertaining church will add people to a building, the established church will add souls to the kingdom of God.

Eyesalve: From Generation to Generation

By | Eyesalve

That thou mightest fear the LORD thy God, to keep all his statutes and his commandments, which I command thee, thou, and thy son, and thy son’s son, all the days of thy life; and that thy days may be prolonged.” Deuteronomy 6:2

A grandson may reject grandpa’s traditions and “old fashioned” way of doing things. However, there is one thing that never changes from generation to generation; nor can you improve on it or scale it down. It is the statutes and commandments of the Lord.

Eyesalve: Bring Jesus

By | Eyesalve

Now early in the morning He came again into the temple, and all the people came to Him; and He sat down and taught them.” John 8:2

Today, it is a common thing for churches to have Saturday night services to accommodate people; especially during the football season so that people can get up Sunday morning and prepare for the game and not have to be distracted with church. There are also a variety of times offered for Sunday mornings, again this accommodates people. Accommodating people is not always wrong. For example a night shift nurse would probably appreciate a Saturday night service versus trying to stay awake during a Sunday morning service. Putting that all aside, if there is one thing that is needed to get people to go to church, even early in the morning, it is to have Jesus there to teach. Not in the physical, but in the preachers and teachers. Not to let anyone off the hook, all believers have the responsibility to bring Jesus in them whenever the saints gather.

Eyesalve: Man’s Selection

By | Eyesalve

And they said one to another, Let us make a captain, and let us return into Egypt.” Numbers 14:4

When men decide to select their leader to replace God’s leader, the only direction it can go is away from the Lord.
