EYE SALVE

“…Anoint your eyes with eye salve, that you may see.” Revelation 3:18

A Daily Devotional by Pastor Terry Fischer

Eye Salve is a short devotional that Pastor Terry Fischer writes regularly to challenge and encourage the saints of God.

It is meant to be short and sweet and comes from his daily reading and prayer.

Eyesalve: What’s Your Place Named

By | Eyesalve

Behold, I will stand before thee there upon the rock in Horeb; and thou shalt smite the rock, and there shall come water out of it, that the people may drink. And Moses did so in the sight of the elders of Israel. 7And he called the name of the place Massah, and Meribah, because of the chiding of the children of Israel, and because they tempted the LORD, saying, Is the LORD among us, or not?” Exodus 17:6-7

So often the names that are given to places in the Old Testament have to do with the events that have taken place. For example, Jacob named the place where He wrestled with God Penuel, which means face of God. He called it that because that was the place he seen God face to face. In our text we see that the place where the water flowed from the rock was called Massah and Meribah because the children of Israel complained against God. The place could have been given a name that means, where the water flowed, or, where the children believed God, but it was named after their unbelief. What kind of name are you leaving?

Eyesalve: Believe What You Sing

By | Eyesalve

Then sang Moses and the children of Israel this song unto the LORD, and spake, saying, I will sing unto the LORD, for he hath triumphed gloriously: the horse and his rider hath he thrown into the seaThou shalt bring them in, and plant them in the mountain of thine inheritance, in the place, O LORD, which thou hast made for thee to dwell in, in the Sanctuary, O Lord, which thy hands have established.” Exodus 15:1,17

Most of those men who sang this song unto the Lord never made it out of the wilderness because of their hard hearts. Though they sang that the Lord would plant them all in the mountain of the Lord, a place He has made for them to dwell, they never believed it. It is one thing to sing songs to the Lord, it is another to believe what you are singing.

Eyesalve: Exact Mark

By | Eyesalve

Who hath divided a watercourse for the overflowing of waters, or a way for the lightning of thunder;” Job 38:25

Though a bolt of lightning may not be exactly straight, God does direct its path so it will hit the exact mark He intended. So too, even if you go a little crooked at times, if you completely trust the Lord with your life, you will hit the exact mark He expects you to. Of course, that mark is Christ.

Eyesalve: Parameters

By | Eyesalve

And said, Hitherto shalt thou come, but no further: and here shall thy proud waves be stayed?” Job 38:11

If God made boundaries and parameters for even water, how much more will He have them for the people whom He loves?

Eyesalve: The Same Call

By | Eyesalve

And he shall go before him in the spirit and power of Elias, to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just; to make ready a people prepared for the Lord.” Luke 1:17

Believer’s in this generation must fulfill the same call that John the Baptist had, “… to make ready a people prepared for the Lord.” So many of us are convinced we are at the last ticks of the clock till the Lord returns, we must sound the alarm, get right, be ready, the Lord is coming.”

Eyesalve: Hate Does

By | Eyesalve

Thou shalt not kill.” Exodus 20:13

The better translation is thou shall not murder. Guns and knives don’t murder people, hate does. Take away hate there will be no more murder.

Eyesalve: Start at Forgiven

By | Eyesalve

“In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins:” Colossians 1:14

No matter if you are rich and famous, poor and unnoticed, every believer starts at forgiven.

Eyesalve: Open Wide

By | Eyesalve

And they waited for me as for the rain; and they opened their mouth wide as for the latter rain.” Job 29:23

There are those waiting today, with mouth open wide, to catch the drops of the latter rain. Oh God, pour out Your Spirit one more time on this generation.
