EYE SALVE

“…Anoint your eyes with eye salve, that you may see.” Revelation 3:18

A Daily Devotional by Pastor Terry Fischer

Eye Salve is a short devotional that Pastor Terry Fischer writes regularly to challenge and encourage the saints of God.

It is meant to be short and sweet and comes from his daily reading and prayer.

The Helper

By | Eyesalve

But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you.” John 14:26

Everything that Jesus said that the father wants us to know, is recorded in the scriptures. The Helper, the Holy Spirit, will help you know the scriptures when you read them. He will help you make sense of them and understand them. Though you may not understand all you read (no one does), He will help you understand everything that God wants you to know in proportion to the light you walk in. Trust the Helper, He will help you.

Your Record

By | Eyesalve

The people therefore that was with him when he called Lazarus out of his grave, and raised him from the dead, bare record.” John 12:17

You can be sure that others will bear record of your life. Will that record of you be a testimony of the glorious love and power of God working in your life?

Our Place and Nation

By | Eyesalve

If we let him thus alone, all men will believe on him: and the Romans shall come and take away both our place and nation.” John 11:48

We have far too many ministers and Christians who are afraid to speak up for morality in this nation. We must be grateful for those who the Lord has raised up to be a prophetic voice to this nation. We need prophets like John the Baptist, who will speak to those in authority and tell them what they are doing isn’t right before God. Let me go in the other direction by asking you, are you more of a patriot than you are a Christian? Does your Christianity hinge on the continual existence of America maintaining her constitutional rights? If it would come to it that some other power would come and “take away both our place and our nation,” would you still maintain your walk with the Lord? I want to remind you all, we believers belong to a different kingdom. There is no other like it. It is the kingdom of God. That is the kingdom we must promote.

Know the One it Came From

By | Eyesalve

But now our soul is dried away: there is nothing at all, beside this manna, before our eyes.” Numbers 11:6

What do they mean, “there is nothing at all?” It says that this manna was before their eyes. I guess their eyes were so dull they couldn’t really see what they had before them. It is because they only saw and ate the manna, but never wanted to see and know the One it came from.

God Recruits

By | Eyesalve

“Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses.” I Timothy 6:12

God doesn’t draft people, He recruits them. He offers them the opportunity to come and be a soldier in His kingdom. He doesn’t make anyone be a soldier, but He does expect anyone who does enlist to be a good one.

Do You Expect an Answer?

By | Eyesalve

My soul, wait thou only upon God; for my expectation is from him.” Psalm 62:5

David waited upon the Lord with expectation. Do you expect the Lord to answer your prayers?

Laying on of Hands

By | Eyesalve

And the Levites shall lay their hands upon the heads of the bullocks: and thou shalt offer the one for a sin offering, and the other for a burnt offering, unto the LORD, to make an atonement for the Levites.” Numbers 8:12

We should not be so quick to lay hands on others who believe they are called to the ministry until they understand this one thing. The Levites laid their hands on the head of the bullock before they killed it for a sacrifice, so too, when hands are laid upon those who are called to the ministry, they must understand that they are declaring themselves dead to self.

What Crowd?

By | Eyesalve

“And he sought to see Jesus who he was; and could not for the press (crowd), because he was little of stature.” Luke 19:3

It is generally thought that Zacchaeus could not see Jesus because He was short. However, the problem was that the crowd was in the way. So, are you a part of the crowd, who flocks to Jesus, that hinders others from seeing Jesus, or are you of the crowd that helps others to see Jesus?
