Living The Truth

By | Eyesalve

“Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth.” I Timothy 4:3

There has been a growing movement in our day called the “Hebrew Roots Movement.” It is Christians who are incorporating some of the Old Testament law into their Christianity. One of those laws being not eating certain meat like pork. I guess by keeping some of these rules they feel they are living a deeper committed life to the Lord. But isn’t the deeper committed life believing and knowing the truth? It is living the truth that pleases God. Do not be fooled by this movement if it comes your way.

Truth Works Effectively

By | Eyesalve

For this cause also thank we God without ceasing, because, when ye received the word of God which ye heard of us, ye received it not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which effectually worketh also in you that believe.” I Thessalonians 2:13

The difference between a Christian and a sinner is that a sinner can read the word and it can get lodged in his brain, but for the Christian, the word goes far beyond something the mind comprehends, but it works effectively in those who believe.

Shall Their Unbelief?

By | Eyesalve

For what if some did not believe? shall their unbelief make the faith of God without effect?” Romans 3:3

Here is another question, Shall their unbelief make you not believe? Let it not be so. Be strong in your faith saints of God.

Raised in You

By | Eyesalve

That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.” Romans 10:9

There is no better way for the unsaved to believe that God raised Jesus from the dead than to see Him raised in you.

Believe That Again

By | Eyesalve

When Pharaoh shall speak unto you, saying, Shew a miracle for you: then thou shalt say unto Aaron, Take thy rod, and cast it before Pharaoh, and it shall become a serpent.” Exodus 7:9

Why would Pharaoh challenge Moses to show him a miracle? I believe it is because he is assuming that if Moses’s God is really a God then He will be able to do miracles. Now, if we can just get the church to believe that again.

Simple Faith

By | Eyesalve

“Take heed that ye despise not one of these little ones; for I say unto you, That in heaven their angels do always behold the face of my Father which is in heaven.” Matthew 18:10

It is one thing for those of this world to despise those young babes in Christ. It is a whole other thing when Christians despise those babes in Christ. Sure, they may not have read the Bible through even once, they may not even have a scripture memorized. But they do have one thing, and that is simple faith. Ah, for simple faith. Hasn’t many of our troubles come because our faith got to complicated? Haven’t we at times got so theological and sophisticated that we forgot to just believe in the Lord all along the way?

Eyesalve: For Themselves

By | Eyesalve

And said unto the woman, Now we believe, not because of thy saying: for we have heard him ourselves, and know that this is indeed the Christ, the Saviour of the world.” John 4:42

New believers must move from believing what we say about God, to hearing and seeing God for themselves.

Eyesalve: We Get to Open His Book

By | Eyesalve

And I saw in the right hand of him that sat on the throne a book written within and on the backside, sealed with seven seals. 2And I saw a strong angel proclaiming with a loud voice, Who is worthy to open the book, and to loose the seals thereof? 3And no man in heaven, nor in earth, neither under the earth, was able to open the book, neither to look thereon. 4And I wept much, because no man was found worthy to open and to read the book, neither to look thereon. 5And one of the elders saith unto me, Weep not: behold, the Lion of the tribe of Juda, the Root of David, hath prevailed to open the book, and to loose the seven seals thereof.” Revelation 5:1-5

No one was worthy to open the book and read it or even look upon it except the Lion of Judah, the Lord Jesus Christ. Such disrespect people have for the word of God today. Some open it to mock it, others to find personal gain, but the worst yet is to open it and read it and not believe it. If you are willing, Jesus will open the book, the holy bible for you. What a privilege we have to get to open His book. Hallelujah!

Eyesalve: They Were Not Afraid

By | Eyesalve

By faith Moses, when he was born, was hid three months of his parents, because they saw he was a proper child; and they were not afraid of the king’s commandment.” Hebrews 11:23

When we think of faith, we know it has so much to do with believing God. Here we see that it also has something to do with not believing and not fearing someone else.

Eyesalve: To Be Encouraged

By | Eyesalve

And his servants came near, and spake unto him, and said, My father, if the prophet had bid thee do some great thing, wouldest thou not have done it? how much rather then, when he saith to thee, Wash, and be clean?” II Kings 5:13

It is a wonderful thing, when we have those moments of doubt, to be encouraged by the brethren to believe God.
