Eyesalve: Members In Particular

By | Eyesalve

Now ye are the body of Christ, and members in particular.” I Corinthians 12:27

As a pastor, I have a whole different approach to church membership then what is common today. In many churches today, you have to fill out an application of sorts and submit it for approval. You have to agree with the tenants of faith of that particular church and any other rules or guidelines they have established. When I am asked about being a member of the church that I pastor, I tell the one inquiring that they are a member when they say they are. What I mean by that is first, to be a member of any Christian church, you have to be born again. Once you are born again you instantly become a member of the body of Christ. So when a true believer attends our church and they determine that God is with us and they want to commit themselves to our fellowship of believers, then they are a member. Who am I to tell a member of the body of Christ that they are not a member? When many churches make others strive to be a member, I strive to remind them they are a member and help keep them participating as a member. Don’t forget, if you are born again, you too are a member of the body of Christ and you better take that serious.

Eyesalve: One Man

By | Eyesalve

And when the seventh month was come, and the children of Israel were in the cities, the people gathered themselves together as one man to Jerusalem.” Ezra 3:1

Our generation will begin to understand what the church really is when the believers gather themselves together as one man. That one man must be Christ.

Eyesalve: Some Will Hinder

By | Eyesalve

Then Amaziah separated them, to wit, the army that was come to him out of Ephraim, to go home again: wherefore their anger was greatly kindled against Judah, and they returned home in great anger.” II Chronicles 25:10

There will be a time when the church will be engaged in a great work for the kingdom of God. That work will be hindered by believers who have not been serious with God who all of a sudden want to participate. They must be kept from participating, at least until they are in the right spirit, for our work is a spiritual work.

Eyesalve: Warn Them

By | Eyesalve

And what cause soever shall come to you of your brethren that dwell in their cities, between blood and blood, between law and commandment, statutes and judgments, ye shall even warn them that they trespass not against the LORD, and so wrath come upon you, and upon your brethren: this do, and ye shall not trespass.” II Chronicles 19:10

One of the reasons the church in America is in the predicament she is in is because her ministers have become more concerned about making the people comfortable than they are willing to “warn them.”

Eyesalve: Power in the Leftovers

By | Eyesalve

“But he answered and said, It is not meet to take the children’s bread, and to cast it to dogs. 27And she said, Truth, Lord: yet the dogs eat of the crumbs which fall from their masters’ table.” Matthew 15:26-27

This foreign, Syrophenician woman believed there was more power in Jesus’ left overs than much of the church believes in the gourmet.

Eyesalve: They Need What They Don’t Have

By | Eyesalve

And when the queen of Sheba heard of the fame of Solomon, she came to prove Solomon with hard questions at Jerusalem, with a very great company, and camels that bare spices, and gold in abundance, and precious stones: and when she was come to Solomon, she communed with him of all that was in her heart.” II Chronicles 9:1

The queen came prepared to give in abundance, if the report she heard was true. The report was true and she gave it. She wasn’t going to visit Solomon to get more of the things of the world, she was going to get what the world can’t offer. This is why the church must stop offering worldly ministry to the lost. They don’t need more of what they have, they need what they don’t have, CHRIST.

Eyesalve: Which Way Will Your Church Astonish?

By | Eyesalve

And this house, which is high, shall be an astonishment to every one that passeth by it; so that he shall say, Why hath the LORD done thus unto this land, and unto this house? 22And it shall be answered, Because they forsook the LORD God of their fathers, which brought them forth out of the land of Egypt, and laid hold on other gods, and worshipped them, and served them: therefore hath he brought all this evil upon them.” II Chronicles 7:21-22

The world can be astonished by the church in two ways. When she flows with Holy Ghost power, or when she is uprooted through back sliding.

Eyesalve: Prepare Meals

By | Eyesalve

Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood.” Acts 20:28

Some men, in preparation to go into the pastorate, they take business classes. Others may take leadership classes. However, men of God are not called to run the church like a business, or lead the flock with leadership principles, they just need to learn how to prepare meals. They need to feed the flock of God well balanced spiritual meals.

Eyesalve: Need To Go

By | Eyesalve

Praising God, and having favour with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved.” Acts 2:47

New converts need to go to church for their own spiritual growth. Mature saints need to go to church so they will continue to grow and be a testimony, blessing and a minister to those who need to grow.
