“And he said, I will go out, and be a lying spirit in the mouth of all his prophets. And the LORD said, Thou shalt entice him, and thou shalt also prevail: go out, and do even so.” II Chronicles 18:21
A man is doomed to failure if he surrounds himself with his own prophets.
“And one went out into the field to gather herbs, and found a wild vine, and gathered thereof wild gourds his lap full, and came and shred them into the pot of pottage: for they knew them not. 40So they poured out for the men to eat. And it came to pass, as they were eating of the pottage, that they cried out, and said, O thou man of God, there is death in the pot. And they could not eat thereof. 41But he said, Then bring meal. And he cast it into the pot; and he said, Pour out for the people, that they may eat. And there was no harm in the pot.” II Kings 4:39-41
Sometimes, death can get into a church. It can get such a foothold that it seems as if it will take a miracle to get it out. Thank God for Prophets, who rise up in our day and declare, “Death has found a place in our church.” Thank God for Prophets and men of God who know God and can immediately eradicate death through the anointing of God.
“If we let him thus alone, all men will believe on him: and the Romans shall come and take away both our place and nation.” John 11:48
We have far too many ministers and Christians who are afraid to speak up for morality in this nation. We must be grateful for those who the Lord has raised up to be a prophetic voice to this nation. We need prophets like John the Baptist, who will speak to those in authority and tell them what they are doing isn’t right before God. Let me go in the other direction by asking you, are you more of a patriot than you are a Christian? Does your Christianity hinge on the continual existence of America maintaining her constitutional rights? If it would come to it that some other power would come and “take away both our place and our nation,” would you still maintain your walk with the Lord? I want to remind you all, we believers belong to a different kingdom. There is no other like it. It is the kingdom of God. That is the kingdom we must promote.
“And he said, I may not return with thee, nor go in with thee: neither will I eat bread nor drink water with thee in this place: 17For it was said to me by the word of the LORD, Thou shalt eat no bread nor drink water there, nor turn again to go by the way that thou camest. 18He said unto him, I am a prophet also as thou art; and an angel spake unto me by the word of the LORD, saying, Bring him back with thee into thine house, that he may eat bread and drink water. But he lied unto him.” I Kings 13:16-18
Yes church, prophets can lie to you. Discern everything that is said to you through the word of God.
“And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; 12For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ: 13Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ:” Eph. 4:11-13
Ministers are called to perfect, edify and bring saints to a deeper knowledge of God, they are not called to keep the peoples religion going.
“And the LORD God of their fathers sent to them by his messengers, rising up betimes, and sending; because he had compassion on his people, and on his dwelling place: 16But they mocked the messengers of God, and despised his words, and misused his prophets, until the wrath of the LORD arose against his people, till there was no remedy.” II Chron 36:15-16
Out of all the ministry gifts, the prophet is the least accepted and respected. They are especially despised by those that are self-righteous or think they have arrived. Prophets are often looked at as negative, judgmental and lacking love. But it is actually the opposite. The prophet is sent forth by God’s compassion. Don’t reject the true Prophet, see Him as a vessel of God’s compassion.
“My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:” Jn. 10:27
God’s sheep hear His voice and follow Him. God’s voice is often heard through the mouth of His ministers. When Moses spoke, the people were hearing God speak. When Isaiah, Jeremiah and Ezekiel spoke, the voice of God was being heard. Today God has given apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors and teachers. Again, God is letting His voice be heard. As long as these ministers are speaking for God, the sheep will hear God’s voice and follow Him.
